About Me

Janet Wagner - Data Journalist, Technical Writer, Web Developer

My name is Janet Wagner and I'm a highly driven data journalist, technical writer, and web developer based in Toledo, Ohio.

I started my career as a front end developer for a large group of manufacturing companies in Northwest Ohio, later becoming a self-employed full stack developer. I have extensive experience in building custom websites using a variety of markup and scripting languages including hand coded HTML5, XHTML, CSS/CSS3, PHP & JavaScript. I've also built CMS driven websites using platforms such as WordPress, CMS Made Simple, and Magento.

I've been a regular contributor to ProgrammableWeb, the world's leading source of news and information about APIs, since February 2012. I cover API related breaking news, in-depth analysis, features articles, and product reviews.

I've also written a few e-books for AlchemyAPI, an IBM company, that aims to democratize breakthroughs in deep learning-based artificial intelligence. The e-books focus on unstructured data and deep learning.

At the end of 2014, I decided to focus on data journalism and technical writing full time. I write in-depth articles about machine learning, deep learning, computer vision, graph technology, GIS and spatial analysis, mapping, data visualization, and many other technologies.

I have over 10 years of extensive web development experience which has proven to be a great asset when it comes to data journalism and technical writing. While my primary focus is on data journalism and technical writing, I spend some of my time working on personal web development projects.

Please feel free to contact me about my writing, article ideas, or to let me know about your breaking API related news.

You can contact me using the email form on my Contact Page or by sending me a message via Twitter. Please note that I'm not accepting freelance web development projects.
