About Me

Janet Wagner - Data Journalist and Technical Writer

My name is Janet Wagner and I'm a highly driven freelance data journalist and technical writer based in Toledo, Ohio.

I started my career as a front end developer for a large group of manufacturing companies in Northwest Ohio, later becoming a self-employed full stack developer. I have extensive experience in building custom websites using a variety of markup and scripting languages including hand coded HTML5, XHTML, CSS/CSS3, PHP & JavaScript. I've also built CMS driven websites using platforms such as WordPress, CMS Made Simple, and Magento.

I've been a regular contributor to ProgrammableWeb, the world's leading source of news and information about APIs, since February 2012. I cover breaking news, in-depth analysis, and product reviews.

I've also written a few e-books for AlchemyAPI, an IBM company, that aims to democratize breakthroughs in deep learning-based artificial intelligence. The e-books focus on unstructured data and deep learning.

At the end of 2014, I decided to focus on data journalism and technical writing full time. I have over 10 years of extensive web development experience which has proven to be a great asset when it comes to data journalism and technical writing.

I'm experienced in writing well-researched, in-depth articles, blog posts, e-books, and other types of online content. I've written articles about APIs, machine learning, deep learning, computer vision, GIS and spatial analysis, mapping, and many other technologies.

Please feel free to contact me about my writing, your writing project, article ideas, or to let me know about your breaking API related news.

You can contact me using the email form on my Contact Page or by sending me a message via Twitter. Please note that I'm no longer accepting freelance web development projects.
